What can IPL do for you?
For the patients who wish to see improvement of their skin with minimal downtime, non-ablative photo rejuvenation treatment (IPL) is the best modality.
IPL is the gold standard treatment for broken capillaries, sun damage and pigmentation. Here at Shire Cosmetic Medicine, we have the state-of-the-art IPL M22 System. Specially selected filters are used to allow intense pulses of light through to the skin. The skin is undamaged as the light specifically targets broken capillaries and the pigments. It also stimulates collagen production which gives the skin a firmer feel.
Are you a good candidate for IPL?
You may experience some discomfort during the treatment. The level of discomfort depends on the settings of the machine and patients pain tolerance. All IPL machines are not the same. Most have fixed settings, so adjustments cannot be made to suit individual needs, our sophisticated machine allows us to vary the parameters to target specific conditions. The entire face can be treated in less than 10 minutes.
- Q-Switched Nd: YAG – Skin toning and tattoo removal
- Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser – Melasma, a hormonal induced pigment

- Multispot Nd: YAG – Treatment of leg veins and vascular lesions
What results can you expect from IPL?
After treatment, the face will feel hot. Much like a sunburn and may appear red for up to 24 hours.
For optimal results – a series of 3-5 treatments is recommended, 3 weeks apart. Before your treatment – discontinue the use of active skin ingredients for 5 days or more. After your treatment – use SPF50+ at all times, wear a hat when outdoors.
